HOW TO USE THIS SOFTWARE

Start by downloading this free personal finance software ... My Financial House.  You can download the software by clicking here. Once you have downloaded and installed the software, you can begin.

• Creating a New Project
  When you start the program for the first time, you should click on the "new" button on the upper left hand corner of the screen.
  
  
• The Wizard
  The set-up wizard will then ask you a series of questions, including the name of your project, where you would like to store your project file and your primary address.
  
  
• Adding Items
  Now that you have started to create your financial house, you can begin to add items.  In the lower, left-hand corner of your screen, you will see a list of items you can add to your home such as financial goals, insurance policies, debts, assets and so on.  If you would like to add one of these items to your financial house, simply click on the icons in the lower left-hand corner of your screen. 
  
  
• Editing Company Addresses
  To edit the addresses of existing companies, select “Edit” then “Address Manager” from the toolbar located in the top left-hand corner of your screen.  In the pop-up screen, select “Business” from the drop-down menu.  Click on any company to select it and click on “Change” to edit information for that entry.   The information for the changed entry will automatically appear everywhere that the company is listed.
  
  
• Printing Your Report
  Simply click on the "print" button on the upper left-hand corner of your screen.  This will allow you to print a detailed report of your financial house.
  
  
• Storing Your Project
  You can store your project on your hard drive, on a CD and you can even email it to yourself.  It would also be a good idea to keep a copy of your project in your safe deposit box or at a friend's or relative's home. That way you’ll be sure to have your financial information if your home is damaged or destroyed in a disaster. For detailed information on where to store your project, click here.
